Darany Applauds Police and Firefighters for Their Service After Monday's Storm
DEARBORN -Monday’s storm left around 11,500 community members without power as winds toppled trees, streetlights and power lines throughout the city, according to DTE Energy. As clean-up efforts continue, State Representative George T. Darany (D-Dearborn) offered his support for the Dearborn community and his appreciation for the hard work of local police and fire departments and the city of Dearborn for their assistance after the severe storms on Monday, July 11.
“As we continue to deal with the damage caused by Monday’s storm, I am proud of the way our community has come together to help each other move forward,” Darany said. “We are lucky that we have such dedicated police and fire departments that are working hard to help our community and keep our families, our property and our neighborhoods safe. I also want to recognize the city of Dearborn and DTE Energy for their role in the clean-up. We often take things like electricity and running water for granted until they are gone, and I commend the DTE crews and the Department of Public Works personnel who have been working around the clock to get our community back to normal.”
DTE Energy has indicated that there are still about 3,000 people without power in Dearborn, but power is expected to be restored to nearly everyone by midnight tonight. Residents can reach DTE Energy’s customer service department or report emergencies by calling (800) 477-4747. Dearborn’s Department of Public Works will remove larger limbs and branches if residents place them on the curb. Additionally, the department stated that if residents are able to bundle small limbs together in lengths of four feet or less, then they will be picked up on regular trash days. For more information, the Department of Public Works can be reached at (313) 943-2085.
“During times of need, I am pleased to see Dearborn community members display unity and devotion to helping fellow neighbors,” Darany said. “Likewise, if I can be of any assistance, I encourage residents to contact my office.”
